MedSurg Unit Tech |
I worked in the MedSurg unit for at the American Fork Intermountain hospital for one year. I assisted patients with ADL's (activities of daily living), such as dressing, ambulating, and feeding, as they recovered from surgery or any other incident. I read through patient diet orders and restrictions and verified that their meals were permitted. I worked directly with the MedSurg nurses and aided them in every way possible. This was a superior experience that has been a major asset to my background.

Emergency Room Assistant |
Working in the ER was an eye-opening experience. I ended up with more responsibilities than I expected, which was to my advantage. I worked in triage where the nurse trained me how to do the routine admit procedures. I recorded vital signs, weight, height, blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration for patients. My exposure to this type of hands on experience was very exciting. I also explained the registration process and paperwork to patients and family.

Pharmacy Assistant |
Working at the pharmacy was a very unique experience and I learned a great deal from my duties in this position. The Pharmacist trained me to be proficient in their computer program and taught me their specific inventory structure. Over the course of several weeks I preformed an official inventory count of the entire pharmacy. I was also instructed and held responsible for receiving incoming shipments, handling the paperwork, and restocking the new medication and supplies. Additionally, I was in charge of delivering called-in medications to the patients at the hospital across the street.
